The excise tax levies a highway tax of seven billion rupees

KARACHI: Sindh's Excise Duty Department raised Rs 7.0 billion from Karachi, Rs 436 million from Hyderabad and Rs 207 million from Sukkur in relation to motor vehicle tax from July 2020 to April 2021.

Provincial Excise, Tax and Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla said Tuesday that rupees 82 million were raised from Shaheed Benazirabad, rupees 99 million from Larkana and rupees 53 million from Mirpurkhas. According to the minister, property taxes were Rs 1.41 billion in Karachi, Rs 69 million in Hyderabad and Rs 32 million in Sukkur. The levy of property tax was Rs 8.9 million for Shaheed Benazirabad, Rs 20.4 million for Larkana and Rs 9.9 million for the Mirpurkhas division.

Chawla also directed officials to expedite property tax collection. He said computerized challans were issued on property tax losses. In the event of non-receipt of Challan, those affected should contact the affected Sindh Excise Department office.
