1. The Florida Holocaust Museum is condemning a neo-Nazi demonstration outside the Turning Point USA Summit in Tampa this weekend, calling it a “direct threat to the Jewish community.” The march was held outside Tampa Convention Center, with individuals waving neo-Nazi flags, anti-Semitic posters and swastikas, along with “DeSantis Country” flags. Democrat candidates running for Governor condemned the neo-Nazi demonstrators. (Florida Politics, Tampa Patch)
2. Tampa’s International Food and Art Festival will return November 2022 to Water Works Park in downtown Tampa at 1701 N Highland Avenue. Artists will showcase their work as well as artisan, decor and clothing, vintage vendors, and more. (That’s So Tampa)
3. The Florida Aquarium in downtown Tampa unveiled a new underwater dive experience called SeaTrek on Saturday morning. The program aims to expose underserved communities to marine and natural wildlife. (Bay News 9)
4. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is investigating an early Sunday morning deadly deputy-involved shooting at the Bristol Bay Apartments in Tampa at the 4700 block of Bristol Bay Way. Deputies say they shot the man because they were “in fear of their lives and the lives of onlookers nearby.” (ABC Action News)
5. City of Tampa Mayor Jane Castor kicked off the demolition of the former Ardent Mills Flour Mill on Friday as Water Street Tampa expands. “This will have a major impact on one of our most important goals for Tampa: bringing the people of our city together,” Castor said in a statement.
