  2. Did you see the “convoy of fire trucks, ambulances, and tow trucks made their way from Woonsocket to Cumberland on Saturday?” Organizers explain that Ukraine firefighters and emergency medical personnel are running low on medical supplies. “We are going to give them what they have asked for, which is first aid supplies, medical supplies and used fire equipment.” (WJAR)

  4. As of Tuesday, the vehicle excise tax is “more than halfway through a planned six-year phase-out that ends in 2024.” “For example, a car valued at $12,000 costs the owner $88 in municipal excise tax in Portsmouth. But the same exact year, make and model vehicle costs more than twice as much in excise taxes in Woonsocket at $196.” However, lawmakers have not yet said what they’ll do in 2024. (WJAR)

CVS announced Tuesday that it “and Fresno Housing have collaborated to build new affordable housing in Fresno, California.” CVS will make a financial commitment of $18.4 million. “This investment will continue to deepen the successful collaboration between Fresno Housing and CVS Heath to reduce health disparities and advance health equity through quality, affordable housing.” (PR Newswire)

Where should you invest as a Woonsocket resident with a $149,000 nest egg? Thanks to a change in the legal code, there’s a new investment Woonsocket residents need to know about. In fact, Bloomberg asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them chose it.

This may surprise you, but it’s fine art.

Growing your nest egg with art isn’t new. Wealthy families like the Rockefellers have done it for centuries.

Here’s why:

  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
