TEXAS — Tax day is right around the corner. You’ve got until Monday, April 18. If you haven’t filed your income taxes yet or need help, the IRS has taxpayer assistance centers available in several Texas cities to help you get those numbers in on time.
Each TAC offers different services and the IRS urges you to make an appointment before visiting the center. You will need to provide a current government ID and a Taxpayer ID number.
In Austin, the TAC is located at 825 E. Rundberg Lane. This location is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and offers services including adjustments to tax account information or payments, assistance with Affordable Care Act tax provision questions, form 911 and 9920, economic impact issues, tax forms and more.
The TAC in Dallas is at 1100 Commerce St. Rm. 121. This center offers the same hours and same services as the Austin one. It also helps with alien clearances, basic tax law assistance and questions about tax law changes.
San Antonio’s TAC is located at 8122 Datapoint Drive Suite 210. It is also open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This IRS office offers the same services as those listed above in Austin and Dallas.
IRS reminds you that you can get help and faster service with most tax issues online or by phone. This includes setting up a payment plan, checking on your refund, filing your return online and even getting help to prepare your taxes by volunteers.
Most tax refunds are typically issued within 21 days but some may take longer if it requires additional review. Taxpayers can check their filing status online. Most taxpayers can file their taxes online for free through the IRS.
If you are missing your third-round Economic Impact Payment, IRS encourages you to see if a payment trace is needed.
If you’re running behind in filing your taxes this year and need more time, you can file for an extension to get six more months to complete the task.
