Sponsors are being sought for a black-tie fundraising gala to be put on Oct. 7 to benefit the Poway Unified School District Foundation.
The foundation raises money to support STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) programs. The event at the Rancho Bernardo Inn will be the first of its kind.
The Starstruck! Gala, hosted by the Poway Unified School District Foundation, will feature a red carpet, dinner, dancing and a live band, as well as live and silent auctions. PUSD’s teachers, employees and volunteers of the year — the true stars of the event — will also be honored in an Oscars-style ceremony, organizers said.
All proceeds from the event will support activities and programs for students in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM), such as science and engineering fairs, college and career fairs, robotics competitions, visual and performing arts and more.
“The PUSD Foundation provides much needed resources to support PUSD’s vision of empowering world-class learning throughout the district,” said Kathleen Porter, executive director of the Poway Unified School District Foundation. “By partnering with businesses and individuals to raise funds, we are able to provide the extras to enrich educational experiences inside and outside of the classroom.”
Tickets to the gala will go on sale in August.
Sponsorship packages include four tiers: title sponsor ($10,000), reception sponsor ($7,500), entertainment sponsor ($5,000) and school or department sponsor ($2,700).

The Foundation is also seeking donations of luxury goods and services for its live and silent auctions. Desired items include travel packages, restaurant and retail gift cards, sports and amusement park tickets, home goods and services, health and beauty packages, kids’ activities, wines and spirits. The mission of the PUSD Foundation is to provide funding, resources, support, and opportunities for district activities and programs in order to expand and enrich the educational experiences of students.
